Meet Couture Bridal Designer Gilles Montezin

I think back to the day I got married almost 15 years ago... Wedding planning was left to my in-laws. So gracious, it was their gift to us. The cake, photos, and of course wedding dress-all on our own. I was fortunate the dress process wasn't lengthy. Like many soon-to-brides, I skimmed through all the wedding magazines and found the exact one at a bridal boutique off Nicollet Ave in Minneapolis. A beautiful beaded halter column gown. Still hanging in my closet today.

So why the talk of wedding gowns now? Recently, I was introduced to couture bridal designer, Gilles Montezin. After seeing his beautifully crafted pieces, I couldn't help but daydream of doing it all over again. Renewing our vows after 15 years in one of his gowns... Maybe a tropical destination on the beach? That would be a fantasy come true.

I wanted to learn more about the Parisian designer whose work has been seen on television and film; on actresses such as Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Debra Messing, and more. Gilles perfected his craft years ago under the training of designers Loris Azzaro and Christian Lacroix in Paris. Now in New York, Mr. Montezin has started his own company and recently launched his couture bridal collection.

What a pleasure to chat with the talented designer. An absolute gentleman too. Here's a word with Gilles Montezin...

BB: You had the privilege of working with French designer, Christian Lacroix; a dream opportunity for many. How did this come about?

GM: I was born in the Province of Quebec, but my father was French, so I moved to Paris to experience French culture. I was looking for a job and met this wonderful woman-Genevieve Carrasco. She was looking for someone to help her with orders of haute couture dresses for Mr. Lacroix. So we worked on the runway pieces as well as the clients' orders. Yes a dream! Mr. Lacroix is such a geniune artist, respectful of others art, and craft. He always uses the best you have to offer somewhere, somehow...

BB: You've worked with some beautiful Hollywood leading ladies. If you could dress anyone in the world, who would be your dream bride?

GM: I consider myself very lucky to have dressed such wonderful women, yes! But I guess the pleasure is not only in the physical beauty of the woman but it is more about a woman who knows how she wants to look like on her wedding day. She knows how she wants to feel like and how she wants to present herself to her friends and family members. And to her groom. All of that with style, humor, good taste, and elegance. This is an ideal bride.

BB: I can't imagine the amount of work that goes into the making of a wedding dress. Unlike the production of other gowns, couture is a time-staking process. How much time goes into the creation of one of your special pieces?

GM: My bridal gown collection is inspired by Haute-couture style, but are presented in a more affordable way. My dresses take between 30 to 45 hours each to make from start to finish. As opposed to haute couture dress that can take up to 1000 hours! Yes, right, 1000.

BB: What tips can you give to soon-to-be brides in search of the perfect wedding dress?

GM: Well, I think most of the brides shop a lot for their wedding gown before trying something on. And that is the right thing to do. There are so many designers and styles to choose from. Maybe first, stick to your budget, then go for what you dream of. You have to try dresses on though. I had brides coming to me with a specific dress in mind, but when they tried the dress on it was not for them. A good sales person is supposed to be there to help when needed, and guiding the bride towards something different from the original thought might be worth listening to.

BB: Can you tell us more about the inspiration behind your Spring 2012 Bridal Collection?

GM: I wanted to do texture. The silhouettes are more moderate in size. I am not a big user of crystals and embellishments, so I make my own details in the fabric. I did a dress made with bands of ribbons. Very nice... Slimming body opening on a cloud-like mermaid tulle skirt... Very Elegant. But texture is on each dress this season.

BB: Being from Paris, do you ever miss home? What's the best thing about living and working in New York?

GM: I think what New York is best for is energy and "go-get-what-you-want." I find it very stimulating to know there are no limits or barriers to what you want to achieve. It's all up to you! America is my third country, actually. I guess I miss Montreal as well as Paris, to tell the truth. So, I guess the best answer to give you is "home is where I am here and now." You are going to make me cry!

Weekend style for me is very casual and easy. Whether running errands or spending the afternoon with my family, I'm usually in leggings, jeggings or knit pants. This time of year, I love wearing them with riding boots and ankle booties. Call me crazy. Despite the lack of snow and 70 degree temps, it's still winter and my only chance to wear 'em.

Off to lunch with my guys... It's what we look forward to every weekend. Between trips to the Lego store and lunching, I think it's a close tie.

Dressing for the season here is much lighter than most. The extent of our winter means dealing with the "Santa Ana" winds. I'm loving this animal print jacket from H&M. I think it scares my husband and son just a bit, but it's me. Not much else needed when you've got a standout piece. So, the rest of the outfit was very subtle. It's been years since I've worn a turtleneck, but have really embraced it this season. It's timeless and the color on this sweater is so pretty. Wedges are a favorite. Anything that adds 4" to my height, I'm a huge fan. I can spend hours in them and my toes are good. Looove these MICHAEL by Michael Kors. The oversized clutch was a chic alternative for day. A fabulous gift from hubby.

I love the romance of Valentine's Day. Do we really need a holiday to celebrate our love? No, but getting dressed up for a night out isn't so bad either. Each year, we take our son to his favorite place-usually one that serves mac n cheese. For us, it's pretty low-key. But I still like to dress for the occasion.

Doing a family dinner is a little different than a couples night. It's important to find a happy balance between sexy and appropriate. Either way you go, I think this MANGO dress has it.

Style Inspiration: Morning Splash

Seeing these photos brings me right back to that morning. There was the slightest breeze and stunningly clear waters. We were on our way to breakfast, but decided to take a quick detour to the beach to grab these shots.

"Mom, are we doing another style inspiration?" Our son likes to tease, but he's also incredibly understanding for a 9-year-old. His easy "go with the flow" nature has been such a blessing. Never a fuss-so patient and just happily playing nearby. Our boy.

I packed so many different options for this trip; printed dresses, bright little skirts, and shorts. I think a beautiful caftan is such a must for a beachy destination. The minute I spotted this piece on ideeli.com I knew it was vacation bound. The embroidery and crochet detail is so intricate with frilly sleeves that tie at the bottom. Accessories were very natural and fun. I love the contrast of this stone ring next to my dress. And the studded bag gave it just a touch of island glamour.

Style Inspiration: Breakfast in Paradise

Hello All! I'm so thrilled to be back and thankful to Theraflu for getting me through this past week. Despite getting terribly sick the last two days of our vacation, Maui was amazzzing.

We stayed on the west side of the island this time in Lahaina. I don't think it matters much which area you visit, Maui is such an inspiring place to be. Waking up to the ocean; taking in the vegetation and gorgeous colors... I fall in love every time. And even in January, we couldn't have asked for more perfect weather. It truly is paradise.

Our first morning, we were all up at 5am waiting for the sun to rise. It's unusual for me to ever see this time of day-guess we were too excited to explore. My husband shot these pics right before heading off to breakfast at nearby Whalers Village. It's a nice short walk from our resort and a great place to stock up on extras for the day.

A Winter Wonderland Holiday

Sometimes, it's the little things... Just a sled and snowy hill; visiting family and a new puppy was all it took to make this one of the most memorable Christmas' ever.

I haven't gone sledding since grade school. It felt so freeing to be a kid again with our boy. Grandma and Dad enjoyed themselves too. We also met my little niece for the very first time. She's the sweetest thing; love those pretty brown eyes. And my parents' puppy was a sweet surprise. It wasn't easy saying "goodbye" to him. But the best was having snow for the holidays. Just perfect!!

Hubby really surprised me this Christmas... Being married nearly 15 years, it's not easy to do. He's been known to take ideas from the blog. This year, I decided to give him some help (links included). But I still had no clue what he was getting.

Loving my new slippers from the Loft. They're like pretty little ballets. The chiffon flower detail is so adorable; love wearing them around the house. The black leather clutch by Pour la Victoire; absolutely love. It's oversized, casual, and sexy which makes it's perfect for many different events. These gorgeous sunnies are from Marc by Marc Jacobs. And, hellooo iPhone! For years, I've had my trusty Blackberry. He's been relentless trying to get me to convert, but I've been reluctant. "It's too much-too fussy." "I don't need all those apps." Blah, blah, blah... Anyways, looove it!!! I'm having a lot of fun with the camera. There will definitely be more twitpics and Instagrams. He added an iTunes gift card too. I'm such a huge fan of music!! So, major bonus points for hubby this year. It's much more than I asked for, but happy to know he gets me. How often do you shop for lingerie? Once, twice a year or almost as often as your trips to the mall? Well, on my part, it's too embarrassing of an admission. Don't get me wrong, I love beautiful lingerie. But unlike my everyday wardrobe, it has seriously taken a back seat.

My invitation to preview Wacoal's b.tempt'd by Wacoal Spring 2012 Collection must have been sent from the lingerie Gods. I needed this!

The presentation was held in West Hollywood at the Sunset Tower Hotel. Champagne and a bevy of beautiful intimate apparel awaited in the penthouse suite. For Spring, b.tempt'd by Wacoal offered a collection of flirty brights, touches of lace, sexy bustiers, and gotta have it shapewear.

My fit specialists Gina and Dawn Kenney were nearby to answer all of my questions and ready to measure me. It was pretty difficult to hide my anxiety. Yes, the idea of a stranger seeing me topless was a scary thought. But the ladies were incredibly professional and put me at ease. I found my new favorite bra, the b.tempt'd Soft Touch Contour. It's super comfortable and pretty too. I love the lace detail and smooth molded cups look flawless underneath blouses, tees, and with anything jersey.

In my fitting, Gina also discovered I was wearing the wrong size. Surprise!! Not really. According to Liz Smith, the national spokesperson for Wacoal America ("The Bra Lady"), it turns out that 8 out of 10 women wear the wrong sized bra. She also suggests getting fitted once a year. Because, if you experience a weight gain or loss of just 5-7 pounds, your bra size will change.

I was also excited to learn of Wacoal's involvement in the fight against breast cancer. Every spring and fall the company hosts Fi(GH)T For the Cure events all over the country. To date, Wacoal has donated more than $2.5M to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Fabulous for Less Under $250: Date Night in My Little Black Dress

When dressing for date night or dinner with friends, I tend to go for something more elegant and refined. A little black dress always looks amazing and it's the perfect opportunity to showcase gorgeous accessories.

The Look: With a high neckline, open v-back design, and mini length, this Zara dress combines both sexy with sophistication. There's something about showing a little skin in the back that's so alluring and unexpected. And the shift silhouette is such a classic; this LBD will definitely have many uses. For jewelry, I love a bib or collar style necklace for mega boldness. Because the attention is along the neckline, I went less heavy with the rest of the accessories. For me, it's one major statement at a time, i.e., big necklace with a cocktail ring, a chunky cuff with subtle necklace or none at all. This sparkly stacked set from French Connection is gorgeous. Spent another morning with the kids today. Guess I'll keep going until it "isn't cool" for Mom to be hanging around anymore. Hopefully, we are still far from that. I know I'll be holding on for as long as I can.

It's been really nice though. The kids have been so much fun. And of course, I'm keeping mental notes on all the girls he's mentioned. Actually, he doesn't have a clue about any of it yet-which is great. Learning more about his friends and seeing that he enjoys school is joy enough for me.

What I wore: I wish all Fall days were this gorgeous. Just a sweater and jeans today; no jacket needed. In this case, it probably wouldn't have worked anyways. The kimono sleeves are quite voluminous and meant to be shown. It just feels like I'm wrapped in a soft blanket-which I love. And the bright sapphire color is so stunning this time of year. Some favorite accessories... Classic studded riding boots by Michael Kors. They're so comfortable and endlessly versatile. I'll have these in my closet forever. And chic gold hammered cuffs and earrings to complete the look.

Style Inspiration: Finding Balance

Juggling work and family... I think within our busy schedules, it's important to find time for the things we love. When it comes to our son, that means volunteering at school whenever possible. It's fun to just be a part of the classroom. Secretly, I love seeing his reaction when I walk into the room. Gosh, I hope he doesn't read this. He would die!!

Here's what I wore: Quick, throw on, and go. That just about sums it up. And since it was drizzling off and on all day, I didn't want anything too fussy. So the poncho was perfect. Plus, for an afternoon with the kids, it doesn't get more comfortable than this. Love the crochet design and loose, swingy silhouette of this piece. To balance it out, I went with denim leggings. Nude peep-toe booties and a bright bag for some much needed color. This vintage clutch was an amazing find-in beautiful condition and right on trend for fall.

In this designer collaboration, creative director Donatella Versace opted to bring back many of the brand's iconic designs. In the women's collection: palm-printed leggings, jeans, a silk top and pleated mini skirt, metallic mini dresses, a studded shift dress in brilliant pink, multi-color sequin dresses covered in archival Versace prints, and little black dresses in silk crepe. ($29.95-$299)

For accessories: silk printed scarves ($29.95-$34.95); glam rings and things ($19.95-$99); studded leather bags ($199); leather sandals and high-heeled laced boots ($129-$149).

Housewares with pillows and bedspreads done in a floral Japanese fan print. ($29.95-$149)

There's also a mens collection which focuses on fine tailoring and vivid prints. Blazers in black and pink, pants, tees, shirts, sweaters, shorts, leather pants, shoes, and accessories are all included. ($24.95-$299)

I cannot wait for the collection to hit stores . The pieces I'm dying for? The black studded leather shift dress and jacket. Nothing faux here. GlAM.OR.OUS. For my guy, the tuxedo jacket is a must this holiday season.

Fabulous for Less Under $250: Easy Fall Weekend Casual

When I think of Fall dressing, a few things come to mind. Cozy, chunky knits, cardigans, and fabulous boots. Pieces you just want to curl up in; relaxing on the couch or taking in the beautiful weather with family and friends. For me, it's the best time of year.

The inspiration for this fab for less: working with my favorite Fall essentials. This season's graphic sweater layered with a playful printed tee, and comfy corduroys in a sumptuous red hue. The bold graphic sweater is definitely the star here. But the richness of these pants by Blank Denim just takes this casual look to the next level. You can easily go with any colored pair of cords or denim and this would be amazing. Douglas Kirkland Exhibition Celebrating 180 Years of Woolrich

Throughout his career, famed photographer Douglas Kirkland has photographed everyone from iconic fashion designer, Coco Chanel to Marilyn Monroe and Sophia Loren. His work has been exhibited worldwide. Today, Mr Kirkland has teamed up with the Woolrich brand to celebrate its 180th Anniversary.

To say the photographer's images are extraordinary is an understatement. For the Woolrich project, his subjects included Hollywood starlet, Elle Fanning, Brendan Fraser, artist Maxim Ludwig and the Santa Fe Seven, and many others. It was an honor to be in attendance.

"Being asked to photograph 18 portraits for the 180 Anniversary of Woolrich and the classic Arctic Parka was a privilege, but when I was told to follow my imagination it became a dream project. I decided to create two kinds of portraits on each subject: the first with the large ancient 8x10 (20x25cm) black and white film camera, to reach back to earliest traditional days of Woolrich and then in color, using the ultimate in digital technology to express the span and trendiness of the brand." ~Douglas Kirkland

Style Inspiration: My Autumn Cape

Confession: Taking these photos on the streets has been no easy thing. Look natural and take the shot. Riiight. It's even worse when you start generating a crowd-such pressure. I think it's going to be awhile before I become completely comfortable in front of the camera. Here goes...

The Look: Black, brown, and grey. I love mixing up neutrals. This is my take on the cape trend. As much as I wanted to do denim with this look, it just wasn't an option. Pairing it with shorts made complete sense in today's heat. Although, I do love the combination. And the cape is a really great length for my petite frame. Love the toggle closure (not shown) and cable knit design. To give this look more of an Autumn feel, I opted for lace-up booties in black suede. A lover of leopard, I'll try to incorporate it whenever possible. This sheer blouse was last year's find from H&M and still the perfect fit for this season. A studded leather bag is always fun and a little tough. This Sara Berman is definitely a favorite and works with just about everything in my wardrobe. Like that!

Now that the fall season is here... It's time to sort through all the trends and make a list of what to buy. From ski lodge cool to the modern gent, as usual there are a myriad of looks. But of course, there was one common denominator most evident on the runways-it's pile on season.

Creating depth with layers and pulling it off effortlessly is what it's about. For today's modern man... I'm loving the corduroy jacket atop a great v-neck, plaid button-down, and tie. Comfy graphic sweaters layered with a cashmere knit or easy tee. Go for chic with a classic turtleneck, wool peacoat, and finish with a cozy scarf. And accenting your neutrals with a note of orange or rich mustard to liven the look.

Fall... Where are you???!!! As you can see, the folks here in Cali are still experiencing quite a heat wave this week. There's been no sign of a cool down (at least in our area). Most people would be ecstatic. Me?? I've had enough. My jackets and cardis are dying for some action. But I'll have my wish very soon... Twin Cities, I'm heading your way next week!

The Look: Imagine layering this outfit with an anorak or a lush leather jacket. Hmmm... I was almost afraid to wear the sheer lace top by itself. Back in my 20s, I wouldn't have given it a second thought. Now in my late 30s, it's become a matter of concern. Surprisingly, no one seemed bothered by it. Just pairing it with twill shorts was perfect for a day like this. Not too casual-still very chic and pretty. And I didn't overdo the accessories since my studded wedges had a lot going on. Just a statement watch and gold nugget bracelet to complete the look. Love it.

Whether it's faux or the real thing, fur is definitely a major trend this season. Maybe not top on everyone's list, but certainly fun to try. For daytime, I love the idea of glamming up a blouse and jeans for an afternoon with the girls or just around town. It's one of my favorite looks for fall and we're doing it for under $250!

The Look: In this fabulous for less, it's retro-inspired with flared jeans in a great dark wash. The faux fur vest adds such amazing texture and interest to the look. Leave it open to bring out the gorgeous color of the blouse. I love a sheer or silky top for this; it has such great movement and so easy to wear. The shoes... In looove with these leopard wedges by N.Y.L.A!! The print adds just that touch of sexy and wow; a little peep-toe and done in calf hair-insane!!! Another fabulous option are lace-up wedges in black suede; so rich and chic. A chunky gold bracelet and playful pendant necklace is all you'll need to get daytime perfect.

Note: Love this look for petites too. The jeans are cut so perfectly and not too wide or flared to overwhelm your frame.

Style Inspiration: Made the Grade

School conferences... Can't believe we're already here. I was a little nervous this time. Although he seems to be enjoying the new school year and doing well, we've had a big jump in homework. I think we're finally getting into a good routine. He assures, "Oh, it will be good Mom. Really." Why I worry so much, I don't know. So far so good. His grades were beyond our expectations. Yay!!!!! So proud.

My outfit choice: For some reason, wearing a dress always makes me feel more "mommy." I wanted a dressed up look, but didn't want to be too "boardroom." This particular style just has that very classic ladylike "Jackio O" feel about it. The shape is so flattering and I love the print. Early morning, I layered with a cardigan. But by noontime, temps had reached nearly 90 degrees-it had to go. A slouchy hobo instead of structured bag felt more casual and less formal. Fun caged wedges and gold accessories to finish the look.

With big risks comes major reward or disappointing flop. What Gywneth Paltrow brought to the Emmys red carpet, I call "calculated" genius. This Emilio Pucci was unexpected and daring; loved the sheer black lace. We've seen enough boobage on the red carpet, this midriff baring gown gave us something new and fashion-forward. In love!!! My favorite of the night. Gorgeous jewels by Neil Lane.

Nina Dobrev

Sizzling in red! A huge trend on last night's carpet. Vampiries Diaries Nina Dobrev gave us majorrr wow with this curve-hugging Donna Karan. Talk about insane body!! Loved the textured bottom and just the glamour of her side-swept hair and makeup. Perfect jewels by Neil Lane, Brian Atwood heels, and Judith Lieber clutch.

Heidi Klum

Heidi Klum was stunning in Custom Christian Siriano. I loved everything about it; the subtle shimmer, giant pom-pomish ruffles, and hair and makeup was young and fresh. She literally glowed on the red carpet. Love!

Claire Danes

Now, this is the way to do Emmys! Claire Danes looked amazzzing in a strapless Oscar de la Renta. In shimmering blues and black.. Doesn't the palette just put you in the fall mood? The colors were perfect with her blonde locks and sun-kissed skin. Totally glamorous.

Cat Deeley

Love it when the girl wears the dress. Cat Deeley of SYTYCD made Emmys dressing look easy in Monique Lhuillier. The sweetheart neckline; specks of metallic gold and bronze; light tulle bottom; it was all very sexy and glamorous. Loved the tousled hair. Diamonds by Bulgari.

Style Inspiration: Fashion's Night Out Los Angeles

Fashion's Night Out, now in its third year was celebrated across the globe last night. From Australia to the United Kingdom; New York to Los Angeles, fashion lovers hit the town for an evening of parties and shopping.

Being it was a Thursday night (school night), we almost didn't make it out. Rush to do homework... No late night sitter... Not to mention, I had to pull hubby away from the first football game of the season. Yes, I owe him majorrrr.

We opted for the Grove in LA (can't beat easy parking). The scene was definitely more relaxed and family-friendly than many party spots. It was great seeing other parents with their kids-enjoying the evening. I could have stayed for hours. DJ played in the park and champagne flowed throughout the shopping center. It was happy shopping!

Here's what I wore: Daytime temps have been so hot. It felt great to finally be able to throw on a jacket. I love the ease of this unstructured Monrow. And the navy/black combo is such a subtle play on the colorblock trend. So chic for a night out. I wanted to do more than a basic tee for the look. Gold foil graphics on this top definitely made it more evening. For accessories... I went for mega statement. This gold knotted necklace felt very Cleopatra-esque and added a glamorous touch. Fierce cutout wedges... Yes! And had to bring back one of my favorite bags. I've had this Botkier for a few seasons now and still love it!! It's so chic and the hardware is just gorgeous.

I have to admit it's been forever since we've visited the fair. The last time was at the Minnesota State Fair-our son was just 3 years old. He's now 9. I know... Needless to say, we were all pretty excited for a day of rides, games, and cotton candy.

Toes filled with dirt and dress full of hay... At the end of the day, I was a mess. I didn't care. The weather was perfect and we had a great time-our son played nearly every game (yep, we got sucked in). Although, we did leave with a handful of carnival wins.

The Look: You may remember, this is the same maxi dress I wore during our trip to Maui. It's a favorite. I just love the bright color, but knew it would be too chilly to wear alone. Adding a cropped sweater worked great as a coverup. And putting these two pieces together instantly created this colorblock effect-looove!! I went for a flirty retro vibe with leopard wayfarers and a vintage crossbody bag. Jewelry was simple, but still felt very substantial with this "fireworks" necklace and floral bangle. And of course, had to go comfy with flat gladiator sandals.

Happy Friday!! Translation... Gone with the strict uniform of suits, jackets, dress pants or even pumps to the office. Hellooo, Casual Friday! Now, that doesn't mean itty-bitty tops and mini skirts (for some employers-PR and fashion may pass). But for most, a level of appropriateness is still expected. Denim, twill pants or chinos with a chic blouse... Casual jackets and tees... The look should be polished yet effortless.

In this fabulous for less, I push the rules slightly by substituting twill shorts for denim. Frayed or cut-off shorts would be an absolute no in this case. Some things are just better suited for the weekend.

The Look: It may be sweltering outside, but with the AC on high the office could get chilly. A simple solution is a great jacket. I love it with everything. This jersey style by H&M has an amazing tailored shape and instantly dresses up the look. A silky tunic would be a fabulous option here, but a printed tee will also do. Madewell's "Japan Love" limited edition tee is equally chic. Bonus, 100 percent of the profits from the sale will be donated to the Japanese Red Cross Society. Do good, look good. Love that. Just simple gold hoops and a chunky cuff makes a mega statement (rolls the sleeves and let it shine). Adding my shoe of the moment-espadrilles. Would you consider buying a leather skirt, pant or even dress this fall season? Designers and editors are referencing them as the new wardrobe classics. Celebrities such as Jennifer Aniston, Rihanna, and Nicole Richie have all been spotted recently in their LBLDs looking gorgeous and seem to be embracing the trend.

Can the everyday girl make this work for their wardrobe? The idea of leather separates as wardrobe staples could be daunting for most-myself included. There hasn't been a leather skirt or dress in my closet for years. But I think we have to look at it as taking an essential piece like the pencil skirt and giving it a luxe twist. Exciting!! Making it day appropriate for the office and transforming it for night with just a switch of accessories.

Here's how you can get the look. I went with the same BB Dakota Leather Mix Skirt and worked it two different ways. Love the panel design on this. Such a fab find at just over $100 and a steal for genuine leather!

Daytime Chic: A beautiful silk blouse softens the look and adds a sophisticated touch to this office style. Done in a striking teal, this Haute Hippie is a must for fall and I'm loving the button tab sleeves; perfect for showcasing a chic watch. Jewelry is simple and understated with stacked textured gold rings. Another gotta have it this season are gorgeous pumps. It’s not often I'm asked to guest blog. In fact, I’m sad to say this is my first one. Being how excruciating it was, she owes me big time! Doing Father's Day picks for my wife, the stylist? That’s pressure. It's not all bad though, I actually had fun seeing if my picks would pass the test.

I know most men don’t have the luxury of being married to a stylist, but I also have to live with the occasional “WTH are you wearing?” Of course, my style has evolved and been enhanced through the years. Some of the simple changes have made a big difference in my wardrobe; I'm really enjoying it. Feeling lucky to no longer wander the men’s section wondering what works for me. And even if left to choose on my own, she’ll always do a quick edit at the dressing room.

This year, she thought it would be great to share with the readers what men really need for Father's Day. What we really "want" is more electronics. What a gorgeous start to our Memorial Day weekend... Our son had been asking to see the latest Kung Fu Panda 2 since the previews. We've been dying to see it too. For us, there's no better theatre than at The Grove. It's such a great place to take the family; to shop, just people watch or enjoy the Farmer's Market.

The Look: Wearing one of my favorite trends of the season; the maxi dress. I love the vibe that it brings to my wardrobe; part boho, so easy, and laid-back.
