Get the Look: Neighborhood Holiday

With Black Friday done and gone, we can now actually look forward to the holidays. From industry, corporate to neighborhood, it's going to be party after party. For that low-key holiday soiree, I'm opting for a style that's more understated and chic . A gorgeous dress would be appropriate, but there's also something about a tuxedo jacket and pant that really makes a statement.

The Look: With any ensemble, it's all about fit and proportion. I love a billowy silk top for this look. It's paired with skinny leather leggings or tailored pant for a touch of sophistication. And nothing says "holiday" more than glamorous accessories. I went for mega sparkle with gold and Swarovski crystal accents. A tonal sequin clutch and platform pumps in contrasting design are just beyond stunning. Overall, feminine and sexy; so hot holiday!!

Tip of the Day: Splurge or Not

When it comes to shopping, many of us wonder "when is it okay to splurge?" That gorgeous bag that retails as much as your mortgage... Spending $100 on shoes or $900? Is it worth it? Well, the answer isn't always clear cut.

As a personal stylist and consumer, I believe a fabulous wardrobe can allow for both. Given the choice to pay $30 for a beautiful blouse versus $300, I'm going for the steal. A designer handbag or a lesser priced version? Always designer. It's a personal choice for everyone.

My top 3 rules for when to Splurge or Not:

1. You must love, love, love it! You'll want to wear it every chance you get. Anything hanging in your closet, unused is a waste of money.

2. Always consider "Cost vs Value." Ask yourself, "How many times can I wear this?" The more you use, the more value you're getting for your money. i.e.,
divide the cost by amount of use. $300 boots worn all season long = priceless.

3. Go ahead and Splurge on the Classics. A beautiful trench, tailored pant or chic pencil skirt are timeless wardrobe staples; always in style and perfect for mixing and matching.
