Mens Fall Sneakers: It's a Black Out

Sneakers are a basic essential for every guys' wardrobe. For spring/summer, it's all about the white; love that clean, preppy chic look. But as we head into fall, I'm making a shift to black for an edgier vibe.

Styles to note: low-top, vintage-inspired sneakers. Picks below are all priced under $100 and perfect with medium, dark-washed, and charcoal denim.

Mens Denim: Top 3 Fall Must-Haves

When it comes wardrobes, jeans are tops on my must-buy list. No matter the season, they are the one things that gets major use throughout the year. For the fellas, "cool factor" is key, but it's also about investing in styles with maximum versatility. My top 3 denim picks for fall: medium distressed, dark-washed, and charcoal. Go with straight-legs for the hottest and most flattering cut.

Medium Distressed: Perfect wash for your everyday casual style. Cool distressing gives it a modern feel; white sneakers keeps the look fresh.

Dark-Washed: Pair with low-top sneaks or go evening with black boots and a jacket; major style and versatility with this classic wash.

Charcoal: Fall's new "black." My favorite wash of the season; love it with white sneaks or go black for a touch of edge.

Acid-Washed Jeans: 80s Fashion Don't

The latest celeb-loved, 80s inspired trend making news around town...acid-washed jeans. The industry has been talking "80s" all season; biker and denim jackets, leather and hardware, tie-dye jeans, shoulder pads, and even "hammer" pants. But the acid-washed jeans popping up as of late... I'm just not buying. The tie-dye versions may be extreme for some, but surprisingly these styles look fresh again. On the other hand, acid-washed jeans just look plain old "dated." Not sold on this denim trend.

Fashion Focus: Jewelry by DANNIJO

DANNIJO jewelry has been a favorite of mine since it's conception in 2008. Founded by sis/designer duo, Danielle and Jodi Synder, their collections are all exquisitely handcrafted in New York. A mixture of metals, gems, pearls, and chains; their artful designs combine both feminine sophistication with a modern edge.

Their 'Cult Couture' collection is one of my absolute favs this season; offering bold glam pieces with a rock-n-roll spirit. DANNIJO's statement-making necklaces are especially stunning for fall. Special offer: now through Aug 31st, get 25% off all DANNIJO jewelry (exclusive via peoplemag). Just enter code "DJPEOPLE" at checkout for discount.

Celeb Style for Less: David Beckham Jeans

David Beckham in great jeans...that's to be expected. Here he is at LAX with son Brooklyn in a fabulous pair of Prps. Love the cool distressing and lived-in look of these jeans; multi-colored button fly and attention to hidden details are their signature extras (definitely worth the price tag). Straight-leg styles such as this one are really flattering on men and David wears it well.

Macys Glamorama 09: After-Party

If you were unable to attend the Macy's Glamorama after-party, here's a peek at what went down. The Mpls Star Tribune and gossip columnist, C.J., chatted with Ne-Yo on the Red Carpet about music, style, and bowling? The video shows the Grammy-award winning artist in his signature "gentleman" style and a whole lotta gum. C.J. rants about his gum chewing and criticizes the artist for "trying to dance like Fred Astaire."

Story & Video: Click Here

The show goes live again this Friday in Chicago. Photos and full coverage of the Mpls event can be found at Glamorama's Facebook page: http://tinyurl.com/n3btqz

Fashion Focus: Tie-Dye Jeans

You know it's an 80s rebirth when tie-dyed and super bleached jeans are hitting the streets. We've seen them for months now; celebs Victoria Beckham, Ashley Tisdale, and Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas are all fans. Fergie was spotted recently at LAX working her tie-dye J Brand 912 Skinnies. No doubt they definitely make a statement; perfect for anyone who loves to indulge in the trends and take fashion risks.

What do you think? Are you buying or saying "no" to tie-dye?

Celeb Style: Cindy Crawford

Cindy Crawford, at age 43 and two kids later, still looks just as amazing as she did in her 20s. Here she is in a chic boyfriend blazer, grey skinnies, and fabulous gladiator sandals. The look is "hot mommy" yet it's so polished and not overdone; a little style inspiration for moms as the new school year approaches.

Note: Scroll down for a look at some of our favorite grey skinnies.

Fabulous for Less: bebe Shoes

I am seriously digging all the embellished shoes this season. What makes them so fabulous are the mesh, grommet, and stud detailings. It's these little extras that give my usual understated style a bit of fierceness; love them so!

One can easily expect to pay hundreds if not beyond for designer styles. But the reality is, I'd like to own more than just a pair a season. Thankfully, there's a retailer offering fall's most coveted styles at a fraction of the cost.

You may know trendy retailer, bebe, for their hot little party dresses. But it's their shoe collection that has me lusting for more. For those who think you can't get fabulous for less, check out the insanely fierce platforms below. These shoes are absolutely stunning and also affordable. Can you tell the difference?

Gotta Have It: Grey Skinnies

If there's one pair of jeans you have to add to your fall wardrobe, it's the grey skinny. Not every girl may agree it's a must-have, but I'm completely obsessed with them; in all shades of grey. And I'm lovin how they actually make me look "skinny." They're the perfect neutral and look so chic with black, whites, and tans. Work them with your cardi, boyfriend blazer or cool moto jacket, and finish with a fabulous pair of platforms.

Note: Curvy girls, this cut will definitely draw attention to your shape. Skinnies may not be the best option if you want to de-emphasize.

Macys Glamorama 09: Glam Style

Now that my Twin Cities "fam" are dressed, I can breathe a little easier. Being on the other side of the coast has it's challenges when you're not able to see the final result in person. The dress, shoes (50% of the outfit), accessories, and even the hair; everything has to fall in place flawlessly. With men, the task is lighter, but all the same it's about making them shine together as a couple.

At this year's Glamorama, you can expect to find a sea of minis and poufy skirts with a modern 80s influence. The focus will be on "tough" accessories with a mixture of leather, studs, chains, and cool zipper detailing. Fellas...in fine suits, slim-fitting pants, oxfords, jeans, sneakers, and embracing a chic vest.

Unfortunately, with conflicting schedules, I will not be attending this year's event. However, the glam fashions can not go unnoticed. Send a photo of your stylish self or a friend and you can be featured here on the blog. Come on Twin CIties... Show us what you're workin with!!!! Email pics to bb@bbinstyle.com.

2009 Teen Choice Awards: Green Carpet

The 2009 Teen Choice Awards --held Sunday at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, CA (Aug 9). Last night's event celebrated the best of young hollywood in tv, music, sports, and film. Hosted by the Jonas Brothers, the show airs tonight, Aug 10th 8pm ET on FOX.

This year, the stars strolled a very eco-chic Green Carpet. Check out who made our "so fresh" and "hot mess" list.

SO FRESH

Fast & Furious star, Jordana Brewster in a white body-lovin Herve Leger Resort dress and black 'Billie' Lizard-Print Jimmy Choos.

Ashley Tisdale in a darling yet totally sexy bustier/mini combo. We're getting used to this naughty/nice thing she's got going on. Spike-covered Christian Louboutin 'Very Prive' pumps and studded accessories were perfect.

Leighton Meester in a flirty black/white Louis Vuitton mini dress and fiery red Brian Atwood
heels. One of her hottest looks by far; a modern pin-up girl.

Reality TV star Kim Kardashian tweeted, "I can't wait for u guys 2 c the new look! I'm loving it!" And we are too!!! Her new blonde locks looked amazzzing and white mini showed off those curves perfectly.

Cameron Diaz accepted her award for My Sister's Keeper, in a sexy grey sheath by Alexander McQueen and blue peep-toes by Pierre Hardy (not shown). Red asymmetrical zipper along neckline brought just enough edge to this classic sheath.

HOT MESS

Twilight actress Kristen Stewart could really hurt somebody in this spiked dress by Rock & Republic. Ouch!!!

Actress Alexis Bledel in a laced royal blue dress by Opening Ceremony. Dowdy silhouette does nothing for her figure and orange/white sandals were too casual; better suited for denim than this ensemble.

Kristen Bell on trend with a fabulous jumper and metallic heels, but multi-colored necklace and green clutch were odd choices on this one.

Glam Pick of the Day: Hello LBD!

Still not sure about what to wear to Glamorama? Shopping your closet can be a great way to save money and make the most out of your wardrobe. Remember that little black dress hanging in your closet? Now is the time to dust it off and rework what you have. Whether it's a sheath, shift or strapless style dress, the idea is to recreate a fresh new look with the all essential LBD.

Here's how to get started:

1. Take a look at your inventory and see if it fits and is in style. You've heard me raving about the blazer all season. Just adding this extra layer will take your look to a whole new level of chicness. Top it off in black, greys, and white.

2. Make it hot with stunning jewelry. Lacking for options? Grandma's vintage/costume jewelry is now fashion's latest obsession. Pile on necklaces of different lengths and sizes or shine with a cuff bracelet and big cocktail ring. Bold is definitely the way to stand out in the crowd.

3. It's all about the accessories. Adding a colored or embellished belt instantly transforms the look and shape of your dress. Finish with a fabulous clutch and gorgeous shoes. Last year's ankle and shoe booties are perfect or update with an edgy cut-out style. Either way, your LBD looks new again and is set for a night of partying.

Celebutante Nicky Hilton at Nobu for the EXPRESS TXT L8TR denim launch party in Los Angeles, CA (July 29). Always on top of the hottest trends, Nicky nails "tough chic" with a studded tank dress, leather motorcycle jacket, and spike-covered Louboutins.

Glam Pick of the Day: "Bad Girl" Accessory

When dressing tonal, one of the best ways to make your outfit pop is to bring in standout accessories. Today's "Glam" pick is the perfect statement-making addition to a strapless or plunging style dress. The mix of textures is just enough to bring out the "bad girl" in any look. So edgy and sweet...looove it!!! Also available in silver.

Note: Be sure the neckline of your dress is simple with mininmal folds and drape; too much will compete and throw off the entire outfit.

Macy's Glamorama 09: What to Wear

What: Macy's Glamorama 09
Where: Mpls Orpheum Theatre
When: Aug 14th 8pm
Why: Benefit Children's Cancer Reserch Fund

The hottest and most fashionable event happening in town is just less than two weeks away. Unlike last year's 80s pop candy theme, Glam 09 infuses a touch of urban edge with headliner, singer/songwriter, and Grammy Award-winning artist Ne-Yo. His chart-topping hits has brought him worldwide recognization, and his personal style equally so. Ne-Yo's current album, Year of the Gentleman, sets my style inspiration for this year's event.

polished, classic yet modern, sexy with edge

Men: "Suited" in a sharp blazer and slim-fitting pant. The look is tonal in shades of grey and black. Add a pocket square and fedora for that gentleman flair.

Ladies: "Dress" it up in a strapless or one-shoulder and in curve-defining minis. Edgy accessories will set you apart from the others.

Dress of the Day:
