This year's BET Awards were held Sunday June 28th at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, CA. Call on actor/artist Jamie Foxx to host and you're sure guranteed a party. Unlike any other awards show, the stars came dressed to pay tribute to the late Michael Jackson; in red, black, and white donned in leather gloves. For this year's red carpet, we jingled the very talented style and entertainment expert, Stephany McKnight to give us her take on who styled it best.
The 2009 BET Awards were full of fun, show-stopping performances and fashion. The network pulled its resources together in a mere four days to give a tribute to music icon Michael Jackson, bringing dazzle to the stage and even more on the red carpet. Below are some of the best and some of the more questionable looks from the red carpet.
Beyonce: Known for her affinity for Balmain and anything shiny, B chose a sequined minidress by the designer and a sensational pair of purple platforms. We love the shimmer and her wild locks. This is a look fitting for Ms. Sasha Fierce!
Alicia Keys: The sultry songstress shined in her embellished Jenny Packham dress, strappy sandals, and heavenly curls. Ever since her dreamy purple Armani Prive dress at this year's Oscars she has been hitting all the right style notes.
Keri Hilson: She totally knocked us down with this dazzling strapless dress. Although it's not a dress we would usually like, paired with her cool crop and round toed pumps, we give this look our seal of approval. It appears that in life and fashion she likes to have fun, and we enjoy that!
Ciara: We loved Ciara's street style of years past ,but we adore her new softer side she's been showing us. Not only was the dress in an amazing hue , but it was extremely flattering and had such a great ruffled detail.
Tyrese: This Transformers star and former model knows how to wear clothes. Especially when it's an impeccable suit. Although we would have enjoyed to see him take a few risks on the red carpet, you can't go wrong with a well made suit. He looks smashing!
Kayne West & Amber Rose: Although we don't know much about Amber Rose, we do know she is quite the trendsetter who loves fashion. She proved this on the red carpet with her curve hugging white dress paired with pink patent pumps and a pink clutch. Kayne however, who usually steps out dressed to the nines, was unusually subdued on the red carpet. We must admit he looked nice but are a little disappointed he didn't spice it up a bit.
Cassie: This is one of the more questionable looks on the red carpet. It's nice that she takes risks ( hello her haircut is genius) but we think this dress was just a little too far out there. In short, we love that the dress shows off her amazing gams but would have loved to see a different neckline that didn't resemble a huge spider web.
